A Brief History
For over a decade, DPS has quietly supported U.S. and NATO Special Operations Forces and regular army units through design, testing, and materials built for extreme environments. Our mission remains the same: to provide the highest-performing equipment to support operational readiness and mission success.
In collaboration with military partners, we have developed specialized skis to meet specific needs, including the Over Snow Mobility (OSM) ski—a compact 155cm platform with a universal binding designed to fit cold-weather combat boots and be usable by soldiers with no prior ski experience. Drawing from proven Nordic design principles, it was built to perform reliably in Arctic conditions.
Today, DPS produces a range of mission-specific skis tailored to the terrain, climate, and operational requirements of military units worldwide.
Our work with military units has always been about solving real problems in unforgiving environments. This edition is a quiet acknowledgment of the trust they’ve placed in us over the years.
-Mike Cannon, DPS Head of Defense Solutions
The Lone Wolf Exercise
Lone Wolf is one of the most demanding cold-weather training exercises conducted by military units operating in Arctic conditions. During the exercise, a soldier skis into open water, cuts through ice while fully equipped, then must self-rescue using ski poles as ice tools. After changing into dry gear, the soldier continues alone—building shelter, managing exposure, and spending the night in isolation.
DPS has supported soldiers during this and other Arctic training exercises, supplying equipment as they refine the skills required for winter warfare and survival. The coordinates printed on the topsheet mark a location within the Arctic Circle, honoring the environment where this training takes place.
